California Environmental Group Recognizes GEM Zero Emission Vehicles for Clean Air Leadership

August 20, 2007 California environmentalists have recognized Global Electric Motorcars, a Chrysler company, for its leadership in bringing environmentally-friendly technology to the state’s residents. The Fargo, North Dakota-based manufacturer received a Blue Sky 2007 Merit Award from WestStart-CALSTART for its “strong and enduring commitment to advanced transportation technology when many other companies were not even considering such options.”  The company produces the nation’s best-selling street-legal all-electric, zero emission vehicles, the GEM.

Chrysler Group Broadens Powertrain Offensive

June 20, 2007 Chrysler Group’s Powertrain Offensive took a major leap forward today when Frank Klegon, Executive Vice President – Product Development, announced a barrage of new initiatives targeted solely at improving the fuel efficiency of future Chrysler, Jeep® and Dodge vehicles. Among the fuel-efficient initiatives are a commitment to developing mild-hybrid technology and expanding the company’s two-mode hybrid program; new six- and eight-cylinder gasoline engines – including cylinder-deactivation in a V-6; dual-clutch transmission technology; a common axle program; weight reduction, aerodynamic and drivetrain initiatives; and another BLUETEC clean-diesel vehicle.

Chrysler Group Continues “Powertrain Offensive” With Groundbreaking for New Phoenix Engine Plant in Trenton, Mich.

May 22, 2007 Marking another significant milestone in the progress of its Recovery and Transformation Plan, Chrysler Group hosted a groundbreaking ceremony today at the site of the future Trenton (Mich.) Phoenix Engine Plant. Scheduled to begin production in 2009, the $730 million investment will produce a new family of fuel efficient V-6 engines, known inside the Chrysler Group as “Phoenix” engines. The Trenton Phoenix Engine Plant is part of the company’s $3 billion Powertrain Offensive announced in February.

Chrysler Group Breaks Ground for New Axle Plant

May 20, 2007 Chrysler Group broke ground today at the future site of the Marysville Axle Plant in Marysville, Mich. Chrysler Group executives were joined by UAW officials and state and local dignitaries to celebrate the $700 million Michigan investment. The plant represents just one step that Chrysler Group is taking toward reaching its Recovery and Transformation Plan, which is designed to return the company to profitability by 2008.

Dodge to Offer All-New Cummins Light-duty Clean Diesel

January 22, 2007 Armed with new Cummins clean-diesel technology, Dodge will introduce an all-new turbodiesel engine in its light duty pickup trucks after 2009. The new engine will provide a dramatic increase in low-end torque, up to a 30-percent improvement in fuel efficiency and a 20-percent reduction in carbon dioxide (C02) emissions when compared to an equivalent gasoline engine.

December 11, 2006 For the fifth year in a row — and every year since its 2003 reintroduction — Chrysler Group’s famous 5.7-liter HEMI® engine has earned a place on Ward's 10 Best Engines list. Joining the HEMI in winning the award is DaimlerChrysler’s 3.0-liter V-6 Turbo Diesel, available in the 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee. "We are pleased that Chrysler Group has delivered two engines among Ward’s 10 prestigious winners,” said Bob Lee, Vice President – Powertrain, Chrysler Group.
