The new 2011 Chrysler Town & Country minivan offers customers more than 40 standard safety features, as well as many safety and technology features not found on other vehicles in the segment, all designed to move families safely to their destination with a style and value that is uniquely Chrysler.

In addition to the many standard safety and security features, the 2011 Chrysler Town & Country was engineered with key structural enablers to help keep the passenger compartment intact and manage energy in case of an accident. Dual-phase steel in the octagonal front inner and outer rail, a mid-dash cross member, straight front-rail tips and engine cradle attachment posts that help absorb energy, all help keep occupants protected.

Innovative technologies keep passengers engaged, entertained and connected. The 2011 Chrysler Town & Country offers cutting-edge technology like a dual-DVD entertainment system that is gaming system compatible and can play different media sources at the same time, to unexpected features like Uconnect Web, which essentially transforms the minivan into a “hot spot” for internet access, and SIRIUS Backseat TV, which offers three channels of children’s programming. From ambient interior lighting to a 115-volt outlet, to voice command for music, navigation and handsfree phone, to remote start and remote keyless entry; — intuitive, life-simplifying features help reduce driver distraction while keeping passengers entertained and in touch.

The new 2011 Chrysler Town & Country offers customers an array of infotainment technologies for driver convenience and passenger enjoyment. The features enable drivers to communicate while keeping their eyes on the road and hands on the wheel, and navigate and select entertainment options using advance voice recognition controls. Passengers can stay entertained with a multitude of features, including SIRIUS Satellite Radio, SIRIUS Travel Link, a touchscreen radio that offers a 30-gigabyte hard drive, iPod® compatibility, Gracenote music identification, voice-activated controls, a dual-DVD entertainment system that is gaming console compatible and Uconnect Web.

The following technology features and options are available on the new 2011 Chrysler Town & Country:

Voice Command
Voice command enables the driver to place and receive calls, handsfree, using a Bluetooth® enabled phone. This feature allows the driver to select radio stations, choose satellite radio channels, navigation destinations and record memos. Voice command recognizes English, French and Spanish, and is capable of learning words for inputting addresses.

ParkView® rear backup camera
Provides a wide-angle view of the area immediately behind the Chrysler Town & Country, giving the driver greater peace of mind before backing up. Also aids in lining up a trailer with the minivan’s towing hitch, when so equipped. The image is automatically displayed on the navigation screen when the transmission is shifted into Reverse.

Parksense® rear park assist system
Rear park assist system assists at low speeds in reverse to detect stationary objects. Consists of visible (interior lights seen in rearview mirror) and audible warnings for the driver.

SIRIUS Backseat TV™
SIRIUS Backseat TV offers customers programming from Nickelodeon, Disney Channel and Cartoon Network. The system operates via an in-vehicle satellite video receiver and an additional antenna mounted on the vehicle’s roof. Programming is displayed on the Town & Country’s rear-seat video screen while the channel name, program title and rating are displayed on the center stack screen. For added flexibility, rear-seat passengers may enjoy SIRIUS Backseat TV, while front-seat occupants listen to SIRIUS Satellite Radio. The system may be operated from the rear-seat entertainment unit or the radio head unit. In addition, when the vehicle is in Park, programming may be displayed on the Uconnect Media Center screen for front-seat viewing.

SIRIUS Satellite Radio
SIRIUS Satellite Radio provides Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep® and Ram customers with more than 120 channels of the best music, entertainment and information coast-to-coast. SIRIUS Satellite Radio offers more than 60 commercial-free, CD-quality music channels and 60 channels of sports, news, entertainment and children’s programming, 24 hours a day. Regional traffic and weather reports also are included with SIRIUS Satellite Radio. Station selection with the radio is easy, using the same familiar method as choosing an AM or FM station. Consumers are able to scan channels or have pre-set buttons for their favorite channels. They can also search both by music category and channel, which will be displayed on the radio screen.

Uconnect® Media Center
The innovative Uconnect Media Center offers touchscreen and voice command for convenient control of multiple media sources and outputs. Owners can create a personalized in-vehicle media experience with iPod® integration, auxiliary jack for MP3 player input, SIRIUS Satellite Radio and SIRIUS Backseat TV. The Media Center also includes a 30-gigabyte hard drive where music, photos and voice messages can be stored via a USB port interface. In addition to navigation software and mapping, the hard drive holds approximately 4,250 to 6,700 songs, depending on the model. Finally, for the driver who needs efficiency, a voice-memo recorder feature allows convenient reminders up to three minutes long.

Uconnect Phone
Uconnect Phone is an in-vehicle, voice-activated communication system that allows you to talk on your Bluetooth® compatible phone with your hands on the wheel and eyes on the road. The built-in phonebook sync feature automatically downloads as many as 1,000 phone book entries from supported phones, which can then be selected by simply saying their name. The handsfree option promotes safety, freedom, value and flexibility.

Uconnect Web
Uconnect Web provides high-speed data transfer and flexibility, combining Wi-Fi and 3G cellular connectivity for a new level of wireless technology. The system transforms the Town & Country into a “hot spot” to deliver the Internet directly to the vehicle for instant access to websites, e-mail, personalized music, online gaming, photo albums and more. The Good Housekeeping Research Institute gave Uconnect Web a 2009 VIP (Very Innovative Product) Award.

Uconnect Navigation
Uconnect Navigation combines the features of a global positioning system (GPS), points of interest, SIRIUS Traffic and Voice Command. Chrysler Group LLC’s voice command and touchscreen allow easy operation. If the minivan is in motion, voice command will recognize three languages and is capable of learning words for inputting addresses. The robust points-of-interest database makes it easy to find nearby restaurants, shopping, hospitals or other local destinations. Also avoid traffic jams with SIRIUS Traffic. Uconnect Navigation offers customers reliable, seamless use of what has become a necessary technology.

Safety and Security Features
The following safety and security features are available on the new 2011 Chrysler Town & Country minivan:

• Active head restraints: Deploy in the event of a rear collision. Restraints are designed to reduce injuries by minimizing the gap between the head restraint and the passenger’s head
• Advanced multi-stage air bags: Inflates with a force appropriate to the severity of the impact. In addition, Town & Country’s new driver air bag design includes tethers to shape the air bag to reduce force and injury with respect to the occupant’s chest. The passenger air bag is designed to deploy at varying inflation rates based on the occupant’s position. Both meet FMVSS 208 advanced air bag requirements for smaller, out-of-position occupants
• All-speed traction control: Helps to keep driving wheels from spinning during acceleration from a stop or during all speeds by applying individual brakes alone or in combination with engine torque limitation to prevent wheel slip
• Anti-lock brake system (ABS): Senses and prevents wheel lockup, offering improved steering control under extreme braking and/or slippery conditions
• Automatic headlamps: Detects dim driving conditions and turns on the headlamps without driver intervention
• Auto-dimming rear-view mirror: Detects and reduces glare from rearward headlamps without driver intervention
• Auto-reverse sunroof: Advanced sensing system that automatically engages and reverses the sunroof to the open position
• Auto-reverse windows: Advanced sensing system that automatically engages and reverses the power windows to the open position
• BeltAlert: Activates a chime and/or illuminates an icon in the instrument cluster to remind the driver and front passenger to buckle up if the Chrysler Town & Country is driven without belted front-seat occupants
• Blind-spot Monitoring (BSM): Uses dual ultra-wideband radar sensors to aid the driver when changing lanes or if being passed by or passing unseen vehicles. The system notifies the driver that another vehicle in their blind spot via illuminated icons on the side-view mirror and with a driver-selected audible chime
• Brake Assist: In an emergency brake situation, the system applies maximum braking power, minimizing the stopping distance
• Brake Override: When a disagreement exists between the throttle and the brake, the brake signal causes the engine controller to reduce engine power, allowing the operator to stop the vehicle
• Brake/Park interlock: Prevents the minivan from being shifted out of “Park” unless the brake pedal is applied
• Brake-traction control system (BTCS): Helps to keep driving wheels from spinning during acceleration from a stop or during slow speeds by applying individual brakes to the slipping wheel(s)
• Child seat anchor system: LATCH (Lower Anchors and Tethers for CHildren) is designed to ease installation of compatible aftermarket child seats
• Constant-force retractors (CFR): Regulates the force exerted on the occupant by the seat belt and then gradually releases seat-belt webbing in a controlled manner
• Crumple zones: Designed to compress during an accident in order to absorb energy from an impact which decreases transfer of that energy to occupants
• Electronic stability control (ESC): Enhances driver control and helps maintain directional stability under all conditions. Provides the benefit in critical driving situations, such as turns, and is valuable when driving on mixed-surface conditions, including snow, ice or gravel. If there is a discernible difference between driver input through the steering wheel and the vehicle’s path, ESC applies selective braking and throttle input to guide the vehicle back on to the driver’s intended path
• Energy-absorbing steering column: The manual-adjust steering column utilizes two hydroformed coaxial tubes that can move relative to each other to allow the column to move forward for enhanced energy absorption during a crash.
• Enhanced Accident Response System (EARS): Makes it easier for emergency personnel to see and reach occupants in the event of an accident by turning on the interior lighting, flashing the hazard lights and unlocking the Town & Country’s doors after air bag deployment. Also shuts off flow of fuel to the engine
• Express up/down windows: One-touch powered express up/down window button located on the front driver door.
• Garmin® navigation: Easy-to-use maps with audible turn-by-turn directions, more than 6 million points of interest and lane guidance
• Head restraints: Includes rear-center passenger for all seating positions
• Height-adjustable seat belts: Allows occupant to raise and lower the shoulder belt. This system encourages seat-belt usage by offering a more comfortable fit and is standard for both front- and second-row passengers in the 2011 Chrysler Town & Country
• High-intensity discharge (HID) headlamps: Provide approximately three times the light output of conventional reflector lamps for improved nighttime illumination
• Knee air bag: Located below the instrument panel, air bag deploys when the driver air bag deploys and is designed to properly position the occupant during impact and offer additional lower leg protection
• LED taillamps: Provide dual-function illumination (brake, stop, turn and running light functions) with harmonious and consistent illumination throughout the taillamp due to individual illumination points
• Mopar® Electronic Vehicle Tracking System (EVTS): Available in three packages: Base, Silver and Gold. Mopar’s new tracking system provides vehicle owners the peace of mind that comes with always knowing where their vehicle is located. The system has the ability to alert owners if someone else is driving their vehicle too fast or too far, by sending a text. Mopar’s system is powered by Guidepoint Systems, the leader in GPS-enabled stolen vehicle recovery systems. Unlike other vehicle tracking systems, the Mopar EVTS offers nationwide tracking without a subscription. The system is available on Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge and Ram Truck vehicles and vehicles with a 16-pin diagnostic data port
• Occupant restraint controller (ORC): Detects an impact and determines whether a crash is severe enough to trigger air bag deployment and whether the primary or secondary stage inflation is sufficient. In addition the controller detects side impacts and determines whether the rail-curtain and side seat-mounted (thorax protection) air bags should deploy. Engagement of front seat-belt pretensioners are also managed through the controller
• ParkSense® rear park assist system: Assists at low speeds in Reverse to detect stationary objects. Consists of audible warnings for the driver and has a display in the instrument cluster’s Electronic Vehicle Information Center (EVIC)
• ParkView® rear backup camera: Provides a wide-angle view of the area immediately behind the vehicle, giving the driver greater peace of mind before reversing at low speeds. New for 2011, the display features grid lines to aid the driver when maneuvering into parking spaces or narrow areas. The image is displayed on the Uconnect Touch when the transmission is shifted into Reverse
• Rain-sensing Wipers: A driver convenience feature that automatically senses moisture on the Chrysler Town & Country’s windshield and activates wipers
• Reactive head restraints: Activates in the event of a rear collision. Restraints are designed to reduce injuries by minimizing the gap between the head restraint and the passenger’s head
• Rear Cross Path (RCP) Detection: In parking lot situations, this system warns drivers backing out of parking spaces of traffic moving toward their vehicle. It activates any time the vehicle is in Reverse. The driver is notified of vehicle(s) crossing behind the vehicle via illuminated icons on the side-view mirror and with a driver-selected audible chime
• Remote keyless entry: Locks and unlocks doors and turns on interior lamps. If the vehicle is equipped with the optional security alarm, the remote also arms and disarms that system
• Remote start: Conveniently starts the engine and activates key comfort settings based on ambient conditions by using the key fob while maintaining vehicle security
• Safety cage body structure: Protects occupants by managing and controlling energy in the event of an impact
• Seat-belt pretensioners: During a collision, impact sensors initiate front seat-belt pretensioners to remove slack in the seat-belt system, thereby reducing the forward movement of the occupant’s head and torso
• Sentry Key® engine immobilizer: Uses a key fob that has an embedded transponder with a preprogrammed security code to shut off the engine after a few seconds and discourage vehicle theft
• SIRIUS Travel Link: Provides Chrysler Town & Country passengers with real-time information and entertainment to make every trip more efficient and safe
• Seat-mounted side pelvic-thorax air bags: Provide enhanced protection to the driver and front outboard passenger in certain impacts. Each side air bag has its own impact sensors that autonomously trigger the air bag on the side where an impact occurs. Standard side air bags are housed within the outboard side of each front seat
• Side-curtain air bags: Provide enhanced protection to all outboard occupants
• Side guard door beams: Provide occupant protection during a side impact
• SmartBeam® headlamps: Headlamp system adjusts to ambient light and oncoming traffic to deliver maximum lighting
• Three-point seat belts: Front outboard seating positions and all rear seating positions have lap and shoulder belts
• Tilt-and-telescoping steering column: Allows steering column to tilt and move toward or away from the driver to achieve a safe and comfortable distance from the advanced multi-stage front driver air bag, if deployed
• Tire-pressure monitoring (TPM): Informs driver when tire pressure is too low. Pressure-sensor modules within the valve stems of all four road wheels send continuous radio-frequency signals to a receiver and the system. Individual tire pressure can be displayed in the EVIC.
• Uconnect voice command: An in-vehicle, voice-activated communication system that allows drivers to operate a Bluetooth® compatible phone with their hands on the wheel and eyes on the road. When the Bluetooth phone is initially connected, the contact list is automatically downloaded, synchronizing as many as 1,000 phone book entries, which can then be selected by simply saying a contact name. It also allows drivers to switch radio modes, tune to AM/FM and SIRIUS Satellite Radio stations and request real-time information (such as fuel prices) from SIRIUS Travel Link using natural voice commands. The handsfree option promotes safety, freedom, value and flexibility
• Uconnect Web: Turns the new 2011 Chrysler Town & Country into a mobile “hot spot” capable of instant access to websites, e-mail, personalized music, online gaming, photo albums and more. The wireless system provides high-speed data transfer and flexibility, combining Wi-Fi and 3G cellular connectivity for a new level of wireless technology
