September 3, 2013 , Windsor, Ontario - Chrysler Canada today announced its 45th consecutive month of year-over-year sales growth, representing the longest sales streak in the company’s history. August 2013 sales were 21,932 compared with 20,569 vehicles sold in August 2012, representing a 7 per cent increase.

These results mark Chrysler Canada’s best August sales since 2000 and best calendar-year-to-date sales, through-August, since 1988.

“To see consumers respond so strongly to our fuel efficient, stylish and affordable range of product offerings is a real compliment to the Chrysler Group design, engineering and manufacturing teams,” said Dave Buckingham, Chief Operating Officer, Chrysler Canada. "We are setting all time sales records with our Windsor built Chrysler Town & Country, and seeing our best start to a year in 25 years.”

Sales Highlights:
Passenger car sales continue to be strong at Chrysler Canada with calendar–year–to-date sales of 36,761. This represents an increase of 20 per cent for the year, compared with sales results from the same timeframe in 2012. For the month of August, new vehicles continue to resonate well with consumers. Dodge Dart, which was recently awarded a Top Safety Pick+ from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), set an August record with 710 sales in 2013, compared with 423 sold in August of 2012. This marks a 68 per cent increase.  Dodge Avenger also set an August sales record with 642 vehicles sold in August 2013, compared with 353 sold in August 2012.

Dodge Journey is not only the most affordable mid-size crossover in Canada, it’s also been the number one selling crossover in the country, since it was introduced. With its best-in-class storage, flexible seating options for 5 or 7 passengers, choice of 4 or 6 cylinder engines and available all-wheel-drive, Canadian consumers purchased 2,551 Dodge Journeys in August, 2013, compared with 2,404 sold in August, 2012. This represents an increase of 6 per cent and marks an August sales record.

The Windsor-built Chrysler Town & Country saw its sales rise 7 fold in August 2013 with 1,388 sales, compared with 176 sold in August of 2012. This marks an all-time sales record for Chrysler Town & Country, which provides the most innovative seating and storage system available. Chrysler Town & Country's award-winning powertrain delivers best-in-class horsepower without sacrificing fuel efficiency. The 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 engine is a two-time "Ward's 10 Best Engine" winner and produces 283 horsepower and 260 lb.-ft. of torque.

Ram truck sales have continued to increase, with 9 months of consecutive year-over-year sales growth. August 2013 sales were 6,761, compared with 5,464 sold in the same month of 2012. This represents an increase of 24 per cent and marks an August sales record. Earlier this year, the 2013 Ram 1500 pickup scored a hat trick of major awards: Motor Trend’s Truck of the Year, 2013 North American Truck of the Year and 2013 Truck of Texas.

“For the first time ever, Chrysler Canada is the number one seller of light trucks in the country through August. This is a nice testament to Ram trucks, which are Canada’s longest lasting and most fuel efficient full size pickup trucks on the market,” added Dave Buckingham.
