Plant History: Facility was completed in 1981 and engine production started in May of that year. The 5.7-liter HEMI engine was launched in June 2002. On Oct. 10, 2013, the Company announced that it would invest $164 million to add a production line to assemble the Tigershark engine, which began in the first quarter of 2014. (Tigershark engines were also built in Dundee and Trenton, Mich.) Production of the powerful Hellcat engine, a 6.2-liter supercharged HEMI V-8 engine that produces 707-horsepower and 650 lb.-ft. of torque, began in the third quarter of 2014. 

In March 2022, the Company announced the 3.0-liter Hurricane twin-turbo, inline, six-cylinder engine would be built in Saltillo.
