Motoring Television 2011 Award Winners – Jeep® Grand Cherokee & Ram Heavy Duty

Windsor, Ontario February 7, 2011 -
On Saturday, February 5th, Motoring Television on TSN announced their vehicles of the year for 2011, with Chrysler Canada taking top honours in two categories.

Winner of the Best SUV/CUV over $40,000: 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee

The 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee won top spot as Best SUV/CUV over $40,000. In selecting Grand Cherokee the winner, Graeme Fletcher, Motoring’s host of the Test Drive segment and respected journalist, announced:
“Talk about a no-brainer. The revamped Ford Edge and Kia Sorento are both very good vehicles but neither can hold a candle to the new Jeep Grand Cherokee. If you want on-road civility and off-road ability, this SUV is as good as it gets".

Winner of the Best Heavy Duty Pickup: 2011 Ram Heavy Duty

Not to be outdone, the 2011 Ram Heavy Duty won in the category of Best Heavy Duty Pickup.Selecting the winner for the Best Heavy Duty Truck for 2011 was Bill Gardner, the “resident mechanic” and pickup truck guru. He announced: "When it comes right down to it, let's face it, most of these Heavy Duty trucks are going to be sold with Diesel engines. That's a prerequisite for a lot of guys. And the clear winner there, this year and for many years has been [Ram], with their Cummins engine. Proven reliability – you never hear anybody with a bad thing to say about a Cummins engine. They're just that darn good.

Ford and GM have made some inroads, and they keep talking about how great the improvements are to their engines. And on paper, they look great. But talk to guys in the real world that use them and you get a little bit of a different story sometimes, especially when they're a couple of years old and you get into expensive repairs. So, for the Heavy Duty segment and Diesel, it's [Ram]."
