March 29, 2007,  Auburn Hills, Mich. - Convertible lovers who seek the fun and open-air freedom of a drop top, but want the practicality of a car for all seasons and appreciate the sleek styling of a Chrysler coupe have all their needs answered with the all-new 2008 Chrysler Sebring Convertible — the first four passenger convertible to offer customers the choice of either a soft top or retractable hard top. Like the all-new 2007 Chrysler Sebring Sedan with which it was developed, the new convertible’s overall surfacing and details reflect the Chrysler brand’s four design attributes: expressive, refined, athletic and passionate.

“Sleek, elegant and functional, the all-new Chrysler Sebring Convertible is stunning both inside and out,” said Trevor Creed, Senior Vice President – Design, Chrysler Group. “Sebring Convertible’s modern, streamlined look features many luxury cues that are evident whether the top is up or down, which sets it apart from any other convertible on the road.”

From the front, the new 2008 Chrysler Sebring Convertible shares many traits with its sedan sibling. In fact, forward of the A-pillar, both the new sedan and convertible share many components, including the distinctive face of Chrysler, the brand’s signature eggcrate grille and a uniquely sculptured hood that features the Chrysler brand’s elegant lines. The Chrysler winged medallion is centered at the top of the grille just below the leading edge of the hood. Large quad headlamps wrap around to the side of the vehicle, where the all-new Sebring Convertible’s profile takes on a shape all its own.

The Chrysler Sebring Convertible’s overall length is 3 inches longer than the sedan, which lengthens the side profile and provides enough cargo room in the trunk to hold two golf bags when the roof is retracted and four golf bags when the top is up. Sebring Convertible’s profile is defined by a long hood, a long roofline and a high chrome beltline, which gives the vehicle a nicely proportioned, elegant greenhouse with the top up. Designers also minimized the width of the C-pillar, improving the convertible’s sleek side profile and increasing rearward visibility when the convertible top is up. Sculpted character lines run across the body, underneath the door handles and across the lower body side, giving the Sebring Convertible its athletic stance. The Limited model’s chrome exterior door handles and optional chrome-clad wheels elevate the convertible’s style.

From the rear, the Sebring Convertible’s wide tail lamps are mounted on the corners and deck lid for visibility and visual impact. Rear fog lamps mounted in the backup lamps maintain a uniform appearance among models sold around the world. Chrome-tipped dual exhaust outputs hint at the Limited model’s performance capability with its standard 3.5-liter V-6 engine and six-speed automatic transaxle.

The all-new 2008 Chrysler Sebring Convertible rides on a 108.9-inch wheelbase and a 61.8-inch track, which improves ride quality and stability and maximizes crush space in the engine compartment. Overall, this all-new vehicle’s wheelbase is 2.9 inches longer, 3.5 inches taller and more than 2 inches wider than the previous convertible model.

All 2008 Chrysler Sebring Convertible models will be available in Inferno Red Tinted Pearl Coat, Linen Gold Pearl Coat, Marathon Blue Pearl Coat, Modern Blue Pearl Coat, Silver Steel Metallic Clear Coat, Bright Silver Metallic Clear Coat, Brilliant Black Pearl Coat and Stone White Clear Coat.

Sebring Convertible Offers Three Top Options, Including Vinyl, Soft or Retractable Hard Top
For the first time, the all-new Chrysler Sebring Convertible offers three convertible top options: a standard Black vinyl top on Sebring Convertible and Touring models; an available Black or Taupe cloth top on Touring models; an available Black or Pebble Beige cloth top on Limited models; and a first for Chrysler, an available body-color painted steel retractable hard top on Touring and Limited models equipped with a V-6 engine.

The 2008 Chrysler Sebring Convertible’s vinyl and cloth soft tops are much more refined than those offered by the convertible competition. The top’s three-layer construction, serviceable rear glass window and electric defroster make for comfortable driving, regardless of the weather outside.

The retractable hard top provides a sleek, integrated, coupe-like appearance that provides all-season utility, perfect for drivers who love the idea of a convertible, but until now may have shied away because it didn’t seem practical for everyday driving. Top that with a standard power hard tonneau cover on all models, and the all-new Sebring Convertible provides an elegant, streamlined appearance to boot, whether the top is up or down.

World-class Craftsmanship
The all-new 2008 Chrysler Sebring Convertible’s spacious interior features a modern, clean design with intense focus on quality, detail, craftsmanship and execution.

As many as four occupants can experience the new Sebring Convertible’s comfortable, roomy interior. Occupants sit 2.5 inches higher than they did in the previous Sebring Convertible model, giving them a command-of-the-road seating position. The front seat driver and passenger have best-in-class head room when the top is up, and rear seat passengers also have plenty of leg and head room, making this a functional convertible that can be enjoyed year round in all seasons.

Sebring Convertible’s finely crafted interior features soft surfaces, rich grains and selective gloss levels. Soft surfaces on several interior touch points, including the instrument panel cover and door arm rests, complement the convertible’s luxurious interior. The instrument panel features a Pebble grain, which is applied to the top cover, top pad, passenger bezel and cluster bezel for a uniform look.

The Sebring Convertible’s interior theme was inspired by the Chrysler uplifted winged badge motif. A large shield-like graphic on the instrument panel forms a soft chevron shape reminiscent of the Chrysler signature grille. With the Chrysler signature analog clock as the centerpiece, the decorative bezel parallels the Chrysler winged badge. This design theme completes the philosophy of harmonizing the exterior and interior design as one.

A three-bomb cluster gauge adds a dimensional and sculptural quality to the interior. Increasing the amount of plan-view curvature of the instrument panel gives the interior a more sculptural feel with a concentrated focus on the center stack. Sebring Convertible’s instrument panel also includes a locking glove box that can secure important documents and small items, especially important when the driver wants to park the car with the top down. The center floor console features dual storage bins and a sliding armrest that moves 3 inches to provide a comfortable position for all drivers. A standard tilt and telescoping steering column allows the driver to better adjust their seating position.

Chrysler Sebring Convertible’s doors include map pocket inserts, while the back of the passenger seat includes a map pocket for storing maps, papers or magazines. Two cup holders can accommodate 12-oz. cans, 20-oz. bottles or large fast-food beverage cups for the front seat occupants. Rear seat passengers have plenty of leg and head room, as Sebring Convertible’s rear seat provides a competitive 37.6 inches of leg room. Arm rests and bottle holders are placed in the rear quarter trim panel for the convenience and comfort of rear seat passengers.

Chrysler Sebring Convertible buyers can choose from three different interior upholstery options: Harrison and Wallace II cloth, easy-clean YES Essentials® Camden and Racine premium cloth, Torino leather trim on the Touring model or Royale leather trim on the Limited model. YES Essentials seat fabric is unique to Sebring in the convertible segment. This antimicrobial and anti-static material repels and releases stains, making it extremely easy to clean, keeping Sebring Convertible’s interior free from stains and odors.

All 2008 Chrysler Sebring Convertible models feature a two-tone interior theme with dark and lighter shades of Khaki or Gray on the instrument panel and door trim. The Chrysler Sebring Convertible Limited model also features an exclusive Cream and Pebble Beige interior with leather seats. Interior accents include Alloy Silver and chrome on the Sebring Convertible model, Satin Silver and chrome on the Touring model and Satin Silver, chrome and Tortoise Shell on the Limited model.
