Medical Center                                                                                                                                                           October 12, 2018,                                                                                                                      Detroit                                                       -                                               The Detroit Symphony Orchestra (DSO) and the FCA Foundation, the charitable arm of North American automaker FCA US LLC, have announced an expansion of their partnership that aims to honor U.S. service members, veterans, and their families. The DSO and the FCA Foundation first began a partnership in 2017, and the 2018-2019 Season of the DSO’s Classical and PNC Pops Series will see the collaboration grow to reach more people, including those who have served their country.U.S. service members, veterans, and their families can access discounted tickets to 19 DSO concerts throughout the season – triple the number of concerts offered during the prior season. Eligible concerts begin this weekend with Dancing in the Street: A Symphonic Tribute to Motown and include: all 12 Friday morning Coffee Concert performances on the Classical Series and six Friday evening performances on the PNC Pops Series, in addition to one Friday evening Classical Series concert during February’s American Panorama Winter Music Festival. Acclaimed conductor, arranger, and trumpeter Jeff Tyzik serves as Principal Pops Conductor, while celebrated trumpeter and composer Terence Blanchard holds the Fred A. and Barbara M. Erb Jazz Creative Director Chair. With growing attendance and unwavering philanthropic support from the Detroit community, the DSO’s performance schedule includes Classical, Pops, Jazz, Young People’s, and Neighborhood concerts, and collaborations with high profile artists from Steven Spielberg to Ben Folds and Lang Lang. In July 2017, the DSO embarked on its first international tour in 16 years, making its debut in China and first visit to Japan in 19 years.
